'A stunning performance, Chris and Hannah have masterminded every detail, from design to choreography, and the result of their hard work is clear.'

On 28th September I went to watch Retrospect Dance Theatre's performance of 'In light of those you love'. It was a stunning performance, Chris and Hannah have masterminded every detail, from design to choreography, and the result of their hard work is clear. They have created an intense and incredibly powerful ghost story which strikes a deeply human chord...making everyone in the audience leave questioning humanity and probably their own sanity too!
The set has been painstakingly sourced and the result is amazing. Chris and Hannah have done a brilliant job of bringing their vision of the Heaths home to life and their use of various lamps to light the set throughout the performance worked extremely well. Their musical choices were also very clever, building and dispanding tension throughout. The use of film was brilliant; it is a hard job for just two dancers to keep the attention of an audience for an hour and a half but their short films worked perfectly, tying everything together, holding us captive for the whole performance.
Chris and Hannah are stunning performers. Their physicality was beautiful, contorting and twisting and fighting, their choreography really physicalised the mental pressure of their characters. The connection between them is also amazing, I don't think I have seen two people more in time ever! They invested everything in their deliverance and it was wonderful to watch. Two 'young' (just graduated) artists delivering such mature and raw performances.
I am really excited to see where Retrospect goes next, I really hope they get to bring their dramatic and moving piece to more audiences!
